Description
The E-Infrastructure and Cloud Senior Manager is responsible for leading and managing the planning, designing, building, and operation of the university technology infrastructure on-premise and cloud. Responsible for ensuring the highest level of availability and security of the technology infrastructure.
Main roles & responsibilities
  1. Ensure that the university has a state of the art, secure, and scalable technology infrastructure, whether on-premise or on cloud. Ensure all systems and components are upgraded to the latest versions. 
  2. Ensure 24/7/365 availability of university technology infrastructure. Ensure the availability of all communication systems, including emails and phones.
  3. Ensure that proper data backup is taken, maintained, and regularly tested for all university data and as per the relevant university policies and procedures and in compliance with all applicable internal and external regulations.
  4. Apply security standards in accordance with best practices, including hardware and software security systems, antivirus, and physical security. Also, provide secure local and remote access to all university computing resources.
  5. Ensure full compliance with ISMS (ISO 27001:2005). Regularly evaluate IT security architectures and monitor implementation to ensure a high degree of protection against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, and disclosure of information.
  6. Enable other AIT sections by providing them with timely and sufficient computing resources for development, testing, staging, and production environments.
  7. Assist the ISM in carrying out his duties and tasks, including risk assessment, security initiatives, internal and external audit activities, and status updates.
  8. Plan for annual budgets, trainings, vacations, and projects. Generate project plans, estimating efforts and deadlines, identifying risks, and making sure that the projects are completed as per requirements. Mentor team on standards and best practices. Evaluate team on progress reports, giving them regular feedback.
  9. Continuously explore new emerging technologies and assess them to see how they may be useful to the university. Evaluate, select, and implement innovative and start of the art IT platforms that are versatile, reliable, and scalable.
  10. Lead the adoption of new cloud services.
  11. Adhere to internal and local information security and relevant health and safety laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Required qualification & skills

Professional Experience

6 years of relevant IT experience, including 3 years of experience in a management position.

Education and Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field from an accredited University.
  • Professional certificates (ITIL, CCNA, etc.).
  • AWS Certified Solution Architect or DevOps.
  • Project Management certification is an advantage.
  • Master’s degree is an advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Infrastructure technologies (cloud, networking, and systems).
  • AWS certified solutions architect or DevOps Engineer.
  • JSON and YAML programming languages.
  • Programming skills in at least one high-level structured programming language, such as Java, Python, C#/.Net, or C/C++.
  • Scripting skills in a system automation language such as bash, Perl, python, or PowerShell.
  • Leadership, teamwork, and management.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English language; Arabic language is an advantage.
