The Ph.D. in e-Education (Concentration: Educational Leadership) at HBMSU Dubai prepares a new generation of highly qualified leaders to be responsive to the evolving educational market. This doctoral program prepares learners to critically examine the conceptual, organizational, political, social, managerial, interpersonal, and technical dimensions of schools and other educational institutions. Leadership is needed in every field, particularly in education where educators play an important role in shaping the minds and attitudes of young learners for the future.
Coursework emphasizes on critical analysis of contemporary problems of practice in collaborative study environments with professors, school administrators, and fellow doctoral learners. With this degree, graduates will be able to gain a variety of skills, including contemporary leadership practices, innovative thinking, change management, strategic planning, and educational finance and budgeting.
Course topics include Research Issues in Learning, Instructional Design Strategy, Quality Assurance in e-Learning and a seminar on Educational Leadership. It is the first Ph.D. program in the U.A.E. that combines HBMSU's unique blended learning model - a combination of online learning and physical classes (seminars). Ph.D. scholars will be able to take the program in any part of the world, through HBMSU's flagship interactive learning environment, the HBMSU Smart Campus, without affecting their schedule.
An international advisory board of eminent scholars and practitioners has also been established to review the curricula, pedagogy, and technology used to deliver the courses on a regular basis to ensure highest possible standards.
The Ph.D. program at HBMSU can be taken as either a full or part-time program. The Ph.D. program duration is 3 years at HBMSU (maximum 5 years) while for a part-time program, the program duration is 4 years (maximum 6 years). Admission Requirements: The applicant must hold a Master's degree from an accredited university with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 Scale or its established equivalent. A candidate for the Ph.D. program will be required to sit for a formal interview to evaluate his/her fitness for the Ph.D. program.
