The Postgraduate Diploma in Gifted and Talented Education provides educators with the advanced knowledge and skills to help learners who possess exceptional creativity, drive, and talent.

This accredited diploma, taught in Arabic language, is smartly designed to detect, develop, and nurture talented and gifted people, and to prepare a generation of learners who can lead innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship and are able to re-engineer the future to achieve progress in all sectors of development in the UAE and the Arab world. Through 8 structured and specialized courses, graduates will be able to perform in the education of gifted and talented people in terms of detection, instruction, training, advising, mentoring, nurturing, evaluation, and development. Learners in this program will also design and develop educational and guidance programs that promote thinking and learning and innovation skills.

Diploma to Degree: Upgrade your postgraduate diploma with 12 extra credit hours to gain an accredited Master of Education in Gifted and Talented Education.

Accreditation: This program is accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education’s Commission for Academic Accreditation.

Admission Requirements: The applicant must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited Higher Education Institution with a minimum AGPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 Scale or its equivalent and provide a proof for Arabic language proficiency subject to admission standards of academic programs taught in Arabic (EmSAT Arabic 1250). Applicants will also be required to provide proof for minimum English language proficiency subject to admission standards of academic programs taught in Arabic.

Program Goals

Preparing a group of specialists and equip them with specialized knowledge, abilities and educational skills that are necessary to design, develop, implement, manage and evaluate appropriate educational, academic, and phycological guidance programs for the different types of the gifted and talented
Providing the necessary field competencies to manage and apply systems, methods and programs used to unveil and evaluate the gifted and talented
Providing alternatives to in-service training for general education teachers and special category teachers; in order to enable them to acquire eminent teaching design skills, and dynamic evaluation and guidance skills, by carefully selecting the courses of this program
Providing a variety of creative and innovative works and projects in brain-based learning, programs for creative and critical thinking development for special groups which will benefit pre-university level, universities, government and non-governmental institutions that are concerned with the gifted and talented across the UAE and Arab Countries
Developing human resources that are capable of employing ICT and intelligent learning systems in improving and developing field practices in the area of educating the gifted and talented, as well as achieving community and institutional interconnection and communication by building sustainable learning and practice communities

Program Outcomes

Analyze the fundamentals, principles, theories, models, psychological and educational concepts that explain the behavior and characteristics of the gifted, talented and creative students
Compare and evaluate tools, methods and models that are used to unveil the gifted and talented, and then guiding and nurturing them
Compare between patterns, types and levels of thinking, models and programs used to develop the thinking process and the learning skills of the gifted and talented
Acknowledge the importance of the school community, the role of the psychological counsellors and teachers in developing practices required to nurture and develop the mental and psychological abilities of the gifted and talented
Use scientific methods, models and tools to identify and discover the gifted and talented, bearing in mind the mental, psychological and social characteristics explaining the gifted, talented and creative children’s behavior
Design and develop mentoring systems for educational and academic support programs required to nurture the gifted and talented and develop their abilities
Analyze of resources, tools, strategies and methods of data collection, and selecting the appropriate research methodology to examine and analyze field problems within the education and care of the gifted and talented sector
Develop advanced thinking, learning and cognitive growth programs for the gifted and talented in view of the overall model of how the brain works, and the theoretical and reference frameworks developed in this area
Use modern ICT systems to develop educational and field practices in the education of the gifted and talented sector
Design innovative projects, ideas and business models to develop field practices in the area of nurturing the gifted and talented, and taking responsibility for their implementation and sustainability
Plan, develop strategic and operational activities, and selecting the necessary task-teams to improve field practices in the area of educating the gifted and talented at the level of educational institutions
Evaluate and develop the personal and professional practices of workers in the field of the gifted and talented education at the country level in light of the ethical standards and internationally recognized work charters
