The Bachelor of Business in Accounting program prepares learners for careers in accounting in both private and public sector organizations. Apart from general business studies, the program will provide learners with solid foundation in the essentials of accounting and finance required to operate in public and private enterprises. The program emphasizes the global importance of the accounting profession and prepares learners to manage financial transactions in multinational and global companies.

The first two years of the program offer a strong foundation in key business functions within the field of accountancy and the processes that link them. Advanced courses in Financial Accounting, Cost accounting, Forensic Accounting , Accounting Analytics, and Contemporary Issues in Accounting and Taxation provide a more detailed examination of the functional areas of accounting practice. CIMA Exemptions: Graduates of this program are exempted from the first level papers required by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) professional certification.

General Admission Requirements: The applicant must hold a secondary school certificate or its equivalent as provided by the Ministry of Education with a minimum overall average of 70% from either literary or scientific section. In addition to the general admission requirements and conditional admissions, which you can see here Undergraduate Admission Requirements, if you are applying to this program, you need to have a minimum SAT 485 or Minimum score of 70% in the math placement test.

Program Goals

Develop the learners’ analytical competencies to apply accounting procedures, principles, and methods to the measurement of the financial welfare of organizations
Develop learners’ awareness of the contemporary issues in accounting in the workplace, and the role of accounting in the local, national, and world economies
Provide learners with the opportunity to critically and reflectively engage in, and expand their awareness of ethical issues in accounting, particularly questions of social responsibility and professional practice
Develop learners’ abilities to apply analytical, problem-solving, decision making, oral and written communication, and information technology skills in the context of Accounting and Finance
Provide learners with practical opportunities to develop and apply skills in electronic accounting
